The answer is 42 !! Another 283 miles so that's a grand total of 3392 miles for 42 postboxes. Just under 81 miles per box. We have only 13 more to do !! We'll make a final trip at the end of the month and finish off in Bedworth soon afterwards. Look forward to sharing it with you.

ReplyDeleteLike you and your travelling companion Lubs, I too am trying to see and photograph all the Gold Postboxes. I've now done all the Scottish Postboxes (except for Chris Hoy's which I'll get on a separate trip to Edinburgh during half-term) and all the Northern ones. I've 2 further trips planned, one for the Midlands, Home Counties & London and one for Wales and the West County.
I'm impressed that you've managed to get the Postbox on Sark !!! I hav'n't yet worked out how I'm going to get that one.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but having seen that you have made the trek all the way up to Westhill,nr Aberdeen for Tim Baillie's Postbox, sadly you've missed one, as he has 2 Postboxes. His first is further up Westhill Drive. The one you've photographed outside RBS is his second, which was added later, as it was deemed to be more central. I'll gladly email you a copy of my photo if you would like to add it to your collection.
It's interesting, that having got 42, you say that you have only 13 left. I assume that you are only doing the Olympic Postboxes, which is a surprise as you appear to be a wheelchair user. Surely you've not overlooked the Paralympic Postboxes, which will make your target nearer 95.
As well as using the website that you used, I've also used wikipedia (search for Gold Postbox), which gives you map coordinates, but beware. You need to convert their degrees, which are decimal, into degrees and minutes. If your SatNav will take coordinates, then entering them will give pin-point accuracy. My SatNav said "You have arrived at Postbox on your left" and there it was !!
